Week 37 100wc



This weeks prompt was it had been raining all morning, so I hope you enjoy my 100wc this week.


Plop, plop. The last drops of water hit the ground. It had been raining all morning, and the ground was soaked.
“Hey mum, can we go out and jump in muddy puddles,” we asked.
“Sure girls, just be sure to put your wellies on.” She yelled from down the hall. We slipped on our wellies and ran out the door.

Outside there were hundreds of wet dogs hurtling towards me. “Heal, Heal, sit, NOW!” I yelled walking backwards.
Then all of a sudden they turned around and ran the other way. I don’t know what it was, it might have been a person, a toy, or even a cat.

“Bedtime girls,” my mum called from down the hallway.
My bestie and I were having a sleepover for my 10th birthday. We had been best friends since 1st grade when we were put in the same science group and were made to work together.

“Ok Mum,” we yelled back. Flick the light switch off, into our sleeping bags, and start snoring.

In the middle of the night, I was woken by rustling in the fridge. “Bethany is that y- you,” I said waking up. No reply. I decide to get up and see for myself.

“Wait so let me get this straight, I was sleepwalking in the middle of the night, and I did this to yyyyoooouuuurrrr fridge?” Bethany questioned.

“Yes, you did,” I had explained this to her 1 million times, however, she still couldn’t believe what she had done

Behind THrEE Doors












Behind door 1, you find a box. In that box, you find a pumpkin. A sweet, harmless pumpkin. You pick that pumpkin up, shake it. It lights up and laughs.



You drop it. Run to the door. Wrap your hand around the handle and pull. It's locked. You try again. Still doesn't budge. One more time. No, still nothing. It’s no use.

You decide to give the pumpkin one more shake. This time it screams. You run straight through the door, leaving a giant indent.









Behind Door 2, there's a sketch pad full of amazing drawings, you flick through the pages. They look like professional drawings. They are all signed with the same signature. You find your favourite and examine it more.



Suddenly everything is smudged. Everything is frozen. And pencil sharpenings everywhere. How do you get out? There is a button, you press that button, everything flashes red. You have 5 seconds to find the door, the book said. 5… 4… 3… 2…


You are running around frantically tripping over your own feet.

“I found it,” you say.

Well done, you are now granted access to door 3









POOF!!!!!!! You have now entered door 3 the last door. You find a bottle of washing up soap. Some lights turn on and magically a pile of dirty dishes are piled on the table. You start to clean the dishes because it is what seems to be the logical thing to do. But it's not really. You start to get an allergic reaction to the soap, and before your eyes, you are inside the bottle choking on bubbles never to be heard of again.



5 Seconds Later…


“Did you know the young girl that went into door 4, 5 seconds ago,” says a random boy to his friend.”

What girl, I haven’t heard of this girl,” the boy replied.

Subantarctic Islands

The Subantarctic Islands are just above the Antarctic, and all around the southern ocean. There are over 1000 Subantarctic Islands all owned by different places in the world. New Zealand owns 5. The Bounty Islands, The Snares, The Antipodes, Auckland Island and Campbell Island. The New Zealand Subantarctic Islands are protected nature reserves.

Do you know what the weather is like in the Subantarctic Islands? Well, you might think it's below 0 degrees all year long like Antarctica but it is actually 4 degrees on a cold day, and 16 degrees on a hot day. It is always nearly cloudy, but the weather is always changing. It could be hailing one minute and the next you could be blown off the island. Despite all of the crazy weather, the animals have adapted well.


How many animals do you think live on the Subantarctic Islands? Well, there is actually quite a lot of animals on the Subantarctic Islands. All of these animals are endemic to only one or two islands. For example, there are four types of penguins that live on the islands. Most are very sociable and live in large colonies. But there is one penguin that likes to be alone, roosts in bushes and makes loud noises when something approaches. This is called the Hoiho.

Have you ever looked closely at a $5 note? Do you know what those flowers are with the penguin? These are called MegaHerbs. Megaherbs have big bright flowers, used to absorb the heat. When the megaherbs absorb the heat the bugs get attracted to the megaherbs to warm up but at the same time, they pollinate too.

Hansel and Gretel



Hi there, this week we were working on commas, and not using run-on sentences. So I hope you enjoy.






Once upon a time, in a faraway land, lived a boy and his twin sister. They worked hard, scrubbing floors, chopping wood, and cleaning chimneys. Dirty, hard work.


At the end of each day, they nibbled on the crusts of bread they were given and collapsed onto the floor of the sitting room. If they were lucky, there might still be some warmth from the glowing embers in the fireplace. If they weren’t, they would huddle together and hope the dogs chose to sleep nearby.




“Hansel and Gretel, get up. There’s wood to chop and dishes to be done. And not a crumb to eat before they’re complete,” bellowed Uncle Stanley.

The twins shuffled outside, Hansel to collect wood and Gretel to swing the axe.

“Ah, hem.” The sound came from the bushes. “You’re disturbing my rest.”

“Sorry, sir,” replied Gretel, usually the first to speak. “We meant no harm. I wish we could stop and stay, but there’s work to be done.”

“And if we don’t get the jobs done as quick as a cat after a mouse,” added Hansel, “we’ll be whipped and our lunch fed to the dogs.”




The bushes rustled some more and an old man shorter than his shadow stumbled out, bleary-eyed. The man had a wispy beard longer than his arms, one eye lower than the other, and only one tooth. Hansel shifted uneasily on his feet. Gretel twirled the loose thread from her ripped hem. The man eyed them suspiciously.

“Ahh,” he cried at last. “The wood’s stacked by the back door, the dishes are done, and the floor’s already been swept even before you’re asked.”

The twins twirled around. The wood stack reached the top of the eave, enough for a bonfire or two.

“But how can that be?” The thread between Gretel’s fingers snapped in two.

“I don’t like doing things by halves,” the old man continued. “You wished to stop and stay, so there, the work’s done.”

“Oh, me,” said Gretel.

“Oh, my,” said Hansel.

They sat down on the log the old man had been sleeping under and shared his lunch. When they thought there was no more, he pulled another roasted chicken from one of his pockets.

“Hansel! Gretel!” came the call from the house. “Be here quick smart. Or else my boot will be used for more than just walking.”

“Quick,” Gretel grabbed Hansel’s hand.

“Thank you, kind sir,” added Hansel, jumping to his feet.

“Here. Take this,” said the old man, thrusting something into each of the twin’s hands. “I like to do things in threes. So, one wish each. But use it wisely, it only works once, and then don’t wish for anything more.

The twins fell out of the bushes and into the sunlight.





They stuffed the coin they had been given deep into their pockets and ran. Uncle Stanley never called twice.




As the two opened the door to the house, Uncle Stanley started list multiple jobs for each of them to do.

“You need to, do my washing, clean the dogs and MAKE ME MY LUNCH!” Uncle Stanley declared.

Hansel and Gretel, murmured some unpleasant things, to themselves.


As they walked away, Hansel put his hand in his pocket and felt something, it was the coin. A light bulb went off in his head. Hansel quickly pulled Gretel into their secret hiding spot, the basement.

“The coin,” Hansel spat in Gretel's face. “We can make a wish, remember.”

“I know, I know, but we need to think very carefully about what we wish for,” Gretel said wiping the spit off her. They started to look around the basement. There were pictures of, tropical islands, deserts in the middle of nowhere, and a sugar-coated gingerbread house.





“Wow, wouldn't it be cool, to be at one of those places right, now,” said Gretel in amazement, because they were standing in front of the biggest, sweetest, gingerbread house ever.


“You doofus,” Hansel said, “ You just used one of our wishes.” Suddenly, the door to the gingerbread house flung open, and Uncle Stanley appeared.




“He is everywhere,” Gretel said to Hansel. “ I wish he wasn't around, anymore,” and just like that,“POOF”, Uncle Stanley disappeared from existence.


“And you just used the other one, doofus,” Gretel said.


The two walked into their new home, gingerbread house, like nothing, had ever happened. Hansel and Gretel never spoke of this day ever again.

It was an ordinary day in the Woods household. The boys were out camping, and the two girls were watching the president on T.V. When Lucy Woods started thinking what if I was in charge? Everything would be so different. If I was in charge, the children would be in charge, and we would never have to go to school again. If I was in charge we would eat whatever we want, and have unlimited money. If I was in charge everyone could have a pet, and be able to have a lolly shower every two weeks. Wow, wouldn't life be great if I was president?

Moaner Island part 1

hey guys 
I have been working on this story for a while now and I decided to make it 2 parts for suspense. so stay tuned for part 2 of  Moaner island 


Moaner island


“Do I have too,” Juliea moaned. “This school sounds boring,.” Juliea," dad said. " Moaner Island is a great school, it will teach you to toughen up just like your younger sister, Li Li."
“Oh wook, we here,"  Li Li said. She was right, there was a giant blue train that said Moaner island, and a man, a weird looking man, he was wearing half a trench coat, what seemed to be some shorts, knee-high socks with one bright orange shoe and an eye patch attached to a cape. "Oh yeah I'm really excited to go to this school.," Juliea said sarcastically.
“All aboard for Moaner Island,” the man yelled.
“Oops that's me,” Juliea said as she was running away.




The train was cold and wobbly, but soon enough Juliea found a seat next to a boy
“So, where you off to?” a kid with chubby cheeks, and a monocle, said as Juliea sat next to him.
“ Moaner Island,” Juleia said nervously.
“Oh same, I'm Jenrold Jewee.”
“ Im Juliea Townsend.”
Then another girl came and sat next to us
“And I am Natalee Hayden.”
Then she sang the alphabet really loud “A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z” then really quiet
“a b c d e f g h i...”
“ Will you stop that!” Juliea and Jenrold yelled simultaneously.

Suddenly the train stopped. The three had to get on a boat. The man steering had a glass eye, a plastic gold hook, and some ripped, black, clothing. He almost looked like a pirate.
“I’ll be captain harding,” he said with a funny accent.
We started going on a zigzag route.
I started to wonder where we were going, and get a little sick.
It was silent the rest of the way.

Juliea had just gotten her classes when the principal, Mr Roger Elmers approached her. “ Hello Juliea, I zee thou vave gotten your glasses, are thou settling inzo thour school zicley?” he said, very hard to understand.
“Oh yes, the schools OK, i've made 2 friends ”
“ zaths grate, aave az isce say.”
We both went different ways and I read my class schedule.



Soon I ran into Jenrold and Natalee, they were checking out the dormitories. They didn't notice me so I thought I would play a little trick on them…

Sooo, that didin’t go as expected. Somehow I ended up in principal Elmers’s office. Heres how it went in my head…



It didn’t go quite like that.
